Everything I wore last week | 06
Lots of easy repeatable winter outfit formulas & a week where I fully embraced item repeating!
One of the reasons I set up my Instagram page, The Julia Style Edit, was to show how easy it is to get more wear out of the pieces in your wardrobe by mixing and matching items to create tons of different outfit combinations. This week, my item repeating game was strong!
MONDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = JEANS ➕ GRAPHIC SWEATER ➕ BLACK COAT ➕ BOOTS
coat/ graphic sweater / jeans, similar / boots
Outfit Details…Monday was one of those WFH days where I realised I hadn't left the house until dinner time! It was super hectic, so I definitely needed a comfy outfit. I went straight for my relaxed-fit jeans and, for a more polished look, paired them with my Anine Bing graphic sweatshirt. I used the black to tie in the whole outfit with the black coat, bag, and boots. The result was an ensemble that was perfect for working from home, but still elevated enough to run errands in!
TUESDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = JEANS ➕ BLACK BLOUSE ➕ TWEED COAT ➕ WOVEN FLATS
jeans, similar / tweed coat, similar / blouse, similar / woven flats / bag / sunnies / necklace
Outfit Details…I had to head into the office for a full day of meetings and, as usual, I was in a rush, so I needed to find an outfit quickly. Whenever this happens, I tend to default to a simple monochrome look with jeans. I wore the same jeans as I did on Monday, but this time I cuffed them, which made them feel like a totally new pair! I paired them with a black silk blouse I've had for years, leaving it unbuttoned for a more relaxed vibe. I added my tweed coat that I hadn't worn in a while and finished the look with my woven flats for a change, and a black leather work bag.
WEDNESDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = DRESS ➕ TWEED COAT ➕ BOOTS
dress / tweed coat, similar / boots / bag/ sunnies / necklace
Outfit Details…If you read last week's Substack or have seen my Instagram page, you'll know that this knitted maxi dress has become a firm winter favorite. It was another office day, so I thought it would be the perfect outfit. I love to repeat items and often tweak previous ways I've worn them to add some interest to my outfits. This time, instead of my camel coat, I wore my tweed coat and paired it with brown accessories—the boots and bag—to add some interest.
THURSDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = JEANS ➕ CREW NECK SWEATER ➕SHIRT ➕ OVERSIZED WOOL COAT ➕ BOOTS
jeans, similar / sweater / shirt / oversized wool coat, similar colour / boots / bag
Outfit Details…Thursday was such a fun day! For a work team-building exercise, we did an escape room—and I absolutely loved it! (I need to book another one!) I needed an outfit that was comfy but still felt put together. I've really been loving my wide-leg cropped jeans with boots, so I started there and added layers to elevate the whole look. Adding a shirt underneath a simple sweater instantly creates a polished look. I finished the whole outfit with my camel oversized coat to contrast against the darker base and grabbed my black leather bag.
FRIDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = TRACK PANTS ➕ SWEATER ➕ PUFFER COAT ➕ SNEAKERS ➕ SCARF
track pants / sweater / sneakers, similar / puffer coat, similar / scarf
Outfit Details…It was a beautiful sunny morning in Melbourne, and after a couple of days of solo parenting, I was desperate to get out for an early morning beach walk and a chai latte. It didn’t disappoint—my favourite kind of morning! I kept the outfit super simple, opting for black track pants (I’ve had these cuffed ones for a while and love how comfy they are), paired with a neutral sweater, my grey puffer jacket (it was pretty chilly first thing), a grey scarf, and my trusty New Balance 327s.
SATURDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = JEANS ➕ SHIRT ➕ QUILTED JACKET ➕ CONVERSE
jeans, similar / shirt / quilted jacket / sneakers / bag
Outfit Details…The weather was pretty average on Saturday, so we decided to take the whole family to the mall. These aren't my favourite places, especially on a wet weekend, but I tried on a few items I’ve been eyeing secondhand, so it wasn't a wasted trip. Plus, it was nice to dress up in something other than athleisure wear! I wore my relaxed-fit jeans, cuffed them like I did on Tuesday (I’m really enjoying this silhouette currently), and paired them with my white Sezane Tomboy shirt but skipped the tuck this time (it’s so hard not to tuck, but it’s actually super comfy like this!) Knowing the mall is always hot, I opted for my lightweight quilted jacket.
SUNDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = JEANS ➕ TEE ➕ SWEATER ➕ PUFFER JACKET ➕ BOOTS
jeans, similar / tee / sweater / puffer coat, similar / necklace / boots
Outfit Details…I've been searching for an oversized charcoal grey knit for a while, and I finally found one during our shopping trip on Saturday! Naturally, I had to wear it on Sunday (am I the only one who can't wait to wear new clothes?). My whole outfit revolved around this sweater. I chose jeans as an easy default, recycling the cropped wide-leg jeans and boots combo from Thursday. For a casual but polished touch, I added a white tee underneath, letting the collar peek out from under the sweater. A really easy styling tip I love to use that makes an outfit feel ‘not trying too hard, but still effortlessly cool’. If it hadn't been raining, I probably wouldn't have opted for my puffer coat, but warmth and practicality won out for a coffee date with the family!
Thanks as always for reading! I’m really enjoying recapping all my outfits and it’s actually makes getting ready easier! I hope you enjoyed it too! If you have any questions or comments about any of the outfits, don't hesitate to drop them below. Feel free to share it with anyone else who might find it inspiring.
