Everything I wore last week | 24
A slow fashion brand that’s been a standout this week, a pair of sandals that might just be my best S/S purchase, and a dress I’m completely obsessed with for the festive season!
Hello lovely people!
How is it already time for the last ‘What I Wore Last Week’ Substack of the year?! Starting this newsletter was a big step for me—it felt daunting to put myself out there—but I’m so glad I took the plunge. It’s been such a joy discovering a love for writing about one of my favourite things: clothes and style!
Last week was an absolute whirlwind as I tackled the final stretch before Christmas—wrapping up the school year, finishing work projects, and fully embracing the festive season. Now that it’s all done, I’m ready for some much-needed downtime with the family! I wore plenty of outfits last week that I’ll be reaching for again and again this summer, so let’s dive in…
MONDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = DRESS ➕ SANDALS
outfit links, Daughters of India Poet Dress (get 15% any purchase with this link) I sized down (*gifted)
Outfit Details…Monday was all about spending time with my youngest. I had big plans for the day, but with the temperature hitting a scorching 40 degrees, we kept it low-key! We ventured out to the park to cool off in the water fountains, which was a lifesaver, and spent the rest of the day chilling in the comfort of our air-conditioned home.
Given the heat, I chose a lightweight cotton mini dress from Daughters of India (kindly gifted!). I adore the relaxed silhouette, and the navy and gold print is even more stunning in person. Keeping the outfit simple and practical, I paired the dress with my Assembly Label sandals—easy and breezy for such a hot day!
TUESDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = WIDE LEG JEANS ➕VEST ➕ BARN COAT ➕ SANDALS
outfit links, Orvis barn coat bought preloved
Outfit Details…thankfully, Tuesday brought cooler weather—cool enough that I reached for my vintage barn coat early in the morning. I had an offsite meeting near the city, followed by a lovely lunch at a beautiful restaurant as part of our end-of-year work celebrations.
I built my outfit around my ecru wide-leg jeans, which I’ve been loving lately. To complement them, I paired them with my new preloved grey sweater vest. The button detailing on the vest gives it a slightly dressier feel than a standard tee, making it perfect for the occasion. For footwear, I chose my Assembly Label sandals, and to tie in warm brown tones, I added my suede Arket bag and topped it all off with my Orvis barn coat.
WEDNESDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = WIDE LEG JEANS ➕LINEN CROPPED TOP ➕THONGS
outfit details, Not Perfect Linen top (moss green) - I sized up 2 sizes (*gifted)
Outfit Details…when it comes to working from home, I’m all about casual, comfortable outfits—and my go-to piece is almost always a pair of jeans. Lately, I’m completely obsessed with wide-leg styles!
This week, I repeated an outfit I wore a couple of weeks ago, as my moss-green linen top had just come out of the laundry (and I couldn’t resist wearing it again). I paired it with my green Havaianas and a large raffia tote bag for an effortless, versatile look that took me seamlessly from working at home to the school assembly.
THURSDAY - outfit 1
Outfit Details…Thursday was a day of outfit changes—one perk of working from home! It started cool, so I wore my relaxed, cuffed light-wash jeans with a Dissh linen vest that always makes me feel refined. I added my XL raffia tote, Assembly Label sandals, and layered on my ecru Sézane Will jacket to break up the black top half.
THURSDAY - outfit 2
Outfit Details…it was the last day of the school year for my eldest two—and my son’s final day of primary school 😭. My husband and I picked them up and celebrated this bittersweet milestone with the grade 6 families. While my son is ready for high school, I’m definitely not—cue the tears!
The afternoon temperatures soared, and I quickly realized my jeans and jacket weren’t going to cut it. A quick outfit change into my preloved Dissh stone-wash denim shorts was just what I needed, and I loved how the updated look came together!
THURSDAY - outfit 3
outfit details, Not Perfect Linen shirt white. wearing a medium (*gifted)
Outfit Details…to celebrate the end of grade 6, we headed to the beach in the evening with all our friends—and it’s safe to say, we had an amazing time! It was the perfect way to mark the occasion for such a wonderful group of kids.
A quick outfit update made me beach-ready: I swapped into my black Bondeye swimsuit, kept my stone-wash denim shorts, and added a white linen shirt as a cover-up. With my hat and thongs in tow, I was all set for a relaxed evening by the water!
FRIDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = COTTON PANTS ➕ TANK ➕ SANDALS
outfit details, Daughters of India Rosa pants (get 15% any purchase with this link) I sized down (*gifted)
Outfit Details….honestly, Friday couldn’t of come soon enough last week! It was the final day in the office before a two-week Christmas break with the family—yay! I had a few loose ends to tie up (including a Christmas quiz, which I actually won!), and then it was officially OOO time.
The day was absolutely beautiful—warm and sunny, my favourite kind of weather. I couldn’t resist wearing my Daughters of India Ria pants (kindly gifted), which are hands down the comfiest pants I own. Their vibrant pattern makes such a statement, so I kept it simple on top with a black tank and finished the look with my trusty Assembly Label sandals. It was the perfect outfit for wrapping up work and enjoying a late lunch outdoors at one of my favourite cafés, catching up with a friend.
SATURDAY DAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = JEANS ➕ KNITTED TEE ➕BLACK SANDALS ➕
Outfit Details…Saturday was a relaxed, lazy day at our house—much needed after a few hectic weeks. In the late afternoon, I ran a couple of errands and managed to sneak in some much-needed me time with a pedicure and brow shape. It was pure bliss and left me feeling refreshed and ready for our night out.
My outfit was super casual and comfy: I threw on the same jeans I wore Thursday (they were the first pair I spotted on the floor!) and paired them with a knitted cream tee. For a change, I opted for my black Tevas, which kept things easy and practical.
SATURDAY NIGHT
OUTFIT FORMULA = DRESS ➕ BLAZER ➕ LEOPARD PRINT FLATS
Outfit Details…on Saturday night, we headed out with our Aussie family to one of our favourite local Italian restaurants for a fun evening filled with fabulous food and delicious wine. Despite the holiday rush, I absolutely love having a reason to dress up for a child-free night out!
I wore a gorgeous black shift dress from M&S that I couldn’t resist after spotting it in their holiday collection. The fringe detail had me obsessed—it’s such a chic twist on a classic silhouette! To keep cosy yet stylish, I paired it with an oversized blazer (one of my favourite preloved finds this year!). I added my blazer bracelets to push up the sleeves and create some balance in the proportions. For footwear, I went with my new Sézane leopard-print flats, and they were just as perfect as I’d imagined. I completed the look with gold jewellery and an old gold clutch for a touch of shimmer.
SUNDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = DRESS➕DENIM JACKET ➕ SANDALS
outfit links, Le Spec sunnies , Daughters of India Uma dress (get 15% off any purchase with this link) I’m wearing an XS
Outfit details…Every year since moving to Melbourne, we’ve made it a tradition to head into the city and soak up all the festive magic it has to offer. It’s such a special time for our family, and it always feels like Christmas once we’ve ticked this off our list! A big part of our day is finding a beautiful spot for lunch. This year, we went to Arbory Afloat, which had a Sicilian theme. The food was absolutely incredible, and we couldn’t get enough of the stunning views of Melbourne from the Yarra.
Since this Substack is all about what I wore last week, it would be remiss not to highlight one of my favourite looks! If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know how much I love slow fashion brands that prioritise thoughtful practices—and Daughters of India is one of my absolute favourites.
For this special Christmas occasion, I wore their stunning white maxi wrap dress. To keep things casual yet polished, I paired it with my trusty denim jacket and Assembly Label brown sandals. To add a touch of edge to balance the feminine vibes (one of my go-to styling tricks!), I threw on my new Le Specs sunnies and finished the look with an oversized tote bag.
That’s a wrap on another week! Thank you so much for reading my Substack and following along—I hope it’s given you some outfit inspiration to carry you through the festive season (especially if you’re in a hot climate!). If you know someone who might need a little wardrobe inspiration, feel free to share this with them too!
Until next time!
