What I’m loving this week | 01
5 things that have brought me joy this week, from big coat weather to my favourite new make-up purchase!
This is a new weekly roundup of things that have brought me a little joy over the past 7 days. From fashion to self-care routines, to podcasts and anything in between! I hope you enjoy reading 😃
My top 5 this week…
#1. BIG COATS ARE BACK!!
Don’t get me wrong I flipping love summer (especially in Australia!) but there’s something about autumn and layering up that I just love!
This week my thick wool coats got a real dusting off and I added them to pretty much everyone of my recent daily looks. I’ve had so many lovely comments about my caramel Assembly Label wool coat (last season), it’s such a great timeless piece that goes with everything in my wardrobe and elevates every look, so I’m super happy it’s actually cold enough to wear it again. I’m on the hunt for a similar style in black, but the perfect one just hasn’t grabbed me yet, but I’ll be patient and hopefully a beautiful gem will turn up.
#2. A NEW MAKE-UP ADDITION
I’m definitely no beauty expert - my make-up routine is as simple as they come and I have a handful of go-to brands like Charlotte Tilbury, Nars and Trinny London, and I’m totally fine with that! That being said, there’s something thrilling about discovering a new gem! This happened with a recent Trinny London purchase (if you haven’t tried any of her stuff…don’t walk, RUN!! it’s brilliant!) I was in desperate need of a new mascara and thought I’d give Trinny a go (I’m usually a die hard Nars mascara fan) and bought the ‘Lash2brow’. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks and I can honestly say I’m sold! A mascara one end and a tinted brow gel the other… love the application and stays on all day long - perfection.
#3. HABIT STACKING & PODCASTS
At the start of the year, I embarked on a journey of habit stacking, it’s a really simple technique for adopting new habits seamlessly into your routine. It's all about pairing new habits with established ones to increase the likelihood of sticking to them. I started so well but life got busier, and habit stacking took a backseat. However, this week, I've prioritised it once again, and it’s made such a different! More podcasts during walks and extra reading before bed have given me that much-needed me time boost. It's amazing what a little focus can achieve! Have you tried habit stacking at all?
#4. BOOTS BABY
If you've been keeping up with my Insta feed lately, you've probably noticed I've been experimenting with different boot looks, and let me tell you, I'm loving it! Last year, I snagged a pair of brown suede Jo Mercer ankle boots and they became a staple in my wardrobe. I couldn't resist the allure of the black leather ones, so I kept my eyes peeled for a secondhand pair. The other week I stumbled upon a nearly new pair in my size, at a fraction of the original price—talk about a score! These boots have been such a wonderful addition and they’ve already helped me to step out of my denim comfort zone!
#5. CRISP SUNNY MORNING WALKS
At the start of the year I was loving taking early morning walks before the rest of the house woke up, but as the darker mornings crept in I haven’t been doing them as regularly. However since I sprained my back a couple of weeks ago walking has been the only form of exercise I’ve been able to do. I’m absolutely loving carving out the time to take a walk in the cool mornings. We live by the water and walking along the headland is one of my happy places!
I hope you enjoyed the first in this weekly series! I’d love to know what you’ve been loving this week too, let me know in the comments!
