Everything I wore last week | 35
Another week of feeling under the weather, but at least I managed to get ready and have some fun experimenting with transitional looks — including my favourite: the classic shorts and sweater combo!
Hello lovely readers!
I hope your week was a good one! Mine could have definitely been better. Our home was still full of germs (a different strain from last week’s gastro bug!), and my youngest was home sick from kinder. To be honest, I wasn’t feeling great either. Is there anything harder than parenting while you're unwell?
On the bright side, I managed to get dressed and embraced one of my favourite wardrobe transitions: mixing summer pieces with a touch of autumn coolness! It was a nice little silver lining amidst the chaos.
Full disclosure, since I was a bit tied up last week (mostly with blowing my nose and coughing!), this week’s update is a bit lighter on words. But I hope it still gives you some outfit inspiration for the week ahead!
MONDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = MIDI SKIRT➕ TEE ➕ DENIM JACKET ➕ SNEAKERS
Outfit Details…. I headed into the office on Monday and decided to break away from my usual jeans-and-tee routine. That's where this gorgeous black midi skirt from Review* came in! I kept it casual, though, since the office is pretty quiet on Mondays, and I wasn’t feeling 100%. I paired it with my favourite white tee and was initially planning to wear a cute little jacket I have. But, in the end, it didn’t quite feel right, so I went with my oversized Levi’s denim jacket instead — and I actually loved the combo!
To finish off the look, I slipped on my Adidas brown SL72 sneakers (I haven’t stopped wearing these since they arrived!), and added a bit of texture and depth with my Arket chocolate brown suede bag. Because, let’s be real, who doesn’t love a little suede, right?
TUESDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = COTTON STRIPED PANTS ➕LINEN CROPPED CAMI ➕ SWEATER ➕ SANDALS

Outfit Details… On Tuesday, I was working from home with a sick toddler and my daughter, who had a pupil-free day. Let's just say there were a lot of plates spinning, and by bedtime, I was completely wiped out. But, to add a little colour and fun to my day (it was definitely needed!), I challenged myself to style my Daughters of India Ria cotton pants* for the cooler weather.
It turned out to be easier than I thought! I simply threw on a black crew neck sweater, and it instantly transformed the outfit from a summer beach vibe to a cosy WFH look.
WEDNESDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = WIDE LEG JEANS KNITTED VEST➕SHACKET➕ CONVERSE
Outfit Details…On Wednesday, I had to drop the kids off at school, which meant it was finally time to ditch the PJs. I reached for the most comfortable (and ironed) pieces in my wardrobe, knowing I'd be spending lots of time cuddling with my little one on the sofa. I paired my wide-leg Arket jeans with my knitted grey vest, and instantly loved the combo.
It was a bit cooler in the morning, so I added my Sezane ecru Will jacket, which paired perfectly with my new Converse cream high tops. It’s definitely a look I’ll be repeating again!
THURSDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = DENIM SHORTS ➕ STRIPED SWEATER ➕ CONVERSE
Outfit Details… Thursday was a rough one — I was completely drained and just couldn’t summon the energy to get ready. This virus really took its toll. By the time I finally managed to get off the sofa, it was already lunchtime. The day was beautifully sunny and warm, so without thinking too much about my outfit, I defaulted to one of my favourite combinations for this time of year: shorts and a sweater. There’s something so effortlessly chic about this look, and I’m making the most of it before the cold sets in! I threw on my cream Converse hi-tops for a walk around the block to get some much-needed fresh air.
FRIDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = LEGGINGS ➕ STRIPED CROPPED TEE➕ SNEAKERS
Outfit Details…On Friday, I was feeling marginally better, so my little one and I went to a local café for a chai latte (and a babyccino for the toddler!). It was nice to get out of the house for a bit. That said, it completely wiped me out, and we spent the rest of the day on the sofa.
To keep things easy, I decided to go for something incredibly casual — my Lululemon Align leggings and cropped striped tee, an outfit I’ve been wearing on repeat these past few weeks. I threw on my comfy New Balance 327s, and I was good to go with zero effort required.
SATURDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = LINEN PANTS ➕ CROPPED LINEN CAMI ➕ DENIM JACKET ➕ SANDALS
Outfit Details…By Saturday, I was absolutely desperate to get out of the house with the family, so we headed to a local suburb to check out a deli I’d heard great things about (and it definitely didn’t disappoint!). We also popped into the Hunter Market, a fantastic local secondhand market that was amazing, too!
For the outing, I wore my wide-leg, loose-fitting black linen pants and paired them with my moss green cropped linen cami — a combo I’ve worn before (I love when that happens!). With autumn definitely in the air, I threw on my denim jacket and completed the look with my tan sandals and oversized tote bag.
Despite still feeling pretty average, a lady at the market told me my outfit was a vibe (I think the bunch of flowers I was holding helped!). That totally made my day — we really need to compliment people on their outfits more, don’t you think?
SUNDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = MIDI SKIRT➕ TEE ➕ DENIM JACKET ➕ SNEAKERS
Outfit details…Sunday was another relaxed day, but when I realised I’d run out of foundation, it was the perfect excuse to drag the family out to the shops and get ready! I’ve had my silk pants on my mind all week, but I just couldn’t bring myself to iron them — so Sunday was the day.
I kept the look casual with a black tee, denim shacket, and black Tevas. To break up the neutral tones, I added some depth with my tan leather tote bag, which was perfect for a bit of shopping!
That’s a wrap on this week’s Substack! Thanks so much for reading and following along.
