What I packed (& wore) for 6 days in Byron Bay.
A fun getaway with my parents and toddler, complete with hot and humid weather all week—it was another destination ticked off the list!
I’ve always been a fan of writing a packing list before I travel—it helps me stay organised and really think through what I’m actually going to wear instead of just throwing random pieces into my suitcase. I used to be known as a chronic over-packer, but in recent years, I’ve gotten much better. That said, I still slip in an extra pair of shoes or an “just in case” top (because who doesn’t, right?!). Reviewing what I’ve actually worn versus what I packed has made the process so much more streamlined.
Last week, my parents, my littlest one, and I spent six days in Byron Bay (about a 2-hour flight from Melbourne). It’s been on my travel wish list for ages, and I thought it would be the perfect chance to show my parents a bit more of Australia while they’re visiting from the UK.

PLANNED OUTFITS
I’ve been using the Indyx app since my Bali holiday last September, and for this trip, I decided to plan a few outfits in advance for my stay in Byron. Normally, I use the app to log outfits I’ve already worn, but using it to plan my looks was a total game-changer!
Here are a few of the outfits I put together for some hot-weather inspiration. I made sure to cover all the essentials—dresses, pants, and shorts—to keep my options open while I was away. Some outfits I wore exactly as planned, while others I tweaked a little depending on our plans for the day. Hopefully, they spark some summer style inspiration for you too!
FAVOURITE LOOKS
Here are a few of my favourite looks from the week! For a detailed breakdown of everything I wore from Monday to Sunday, be sure to read ‘Everything I Wore Last Week | 30’.

ITEMS THAT DIDN’T MAKE IT OUT OF THE CASE
If you've seen one of my packing lists before, you know that I'm not exactly a light packer. Those extra 'just in case' items always seem to make their way into my suitcase. This trip was no exception, as I know traveling with a toddler can get pretty messy!
Here are the few items that I didn't end up wearing and why…
Arket silk pants – we only went out for dinner once, opting instead to either eat lunch out or dine at home. As a result, I didn’t get the chance to wear these dressier pants. Normally, I’d wear them during the day, but it was just too hot for them.
Country Road striped cropped tee - this was one of those items I put in just in case, but didn't end up needing an extra tee.
Uniqlo white tee - knew I probably packed too many tops, but I threw this one in because a white tee is always a versatile piece that goes with anything. In the end, though, I opted for my black one instead.
Activewear - I had every intention of exercising whilst we were away—there was even a reformer studio close by, but I honestly didn't feel like it, and so the activewear never made it out of the case - maybe next time!
Overall I was pretty happy with my packing list, I had plenty of options and didn't end up with too many unworn items. The heat and humidity were intense, so it was great to have a few changes of clothes to switch into after a day of exploring in the sweltering weather.
Thanks for reading, I hope you’ve enjoyed this packing list edition and that it provides some inspiration for your next trip. Feel free to share it with a friend who could use a little extra help planning their holiday outfits!
Until next time,
Julia x

Loved this - I keep a list on my phone of what I packed for trips and then remove the ones I didn’t wear (from the list) so next time I (sort of 😉) get the amount right !! Which make by the way are those sunnies with the orangey/yellow lenses ? Many thanks 🤩
