Everything I wore last week | 40
After a couple of outfit misses earlier in the week, I’ve officially found my stride — and I’m in layering heaven with some dreamy winter coats!
Hello lovely readers!
This week was a mix of outfit hits and a few near-misses — from easing back into office wear after a casual camping break, to layering up for crisp autumn mornings in Melbourne. Between school runs, work days, and a special milestone (voting in Australia for the first time!), my wardrobe definitely got a workout. I leaned into comfort, revisited old favourites, and made a few styling tweaks I’ll definitely keep in rotation. Here’s a look at what I wore — the good, the comfy, and everything in between.
MONDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = MAXI SKIRT➕ CAMI TOP ➕ CARDIGAN ➕ TRENCH ➕ SNEAKERS
Outfit Details….after a few days of camping in ultra-casual gear, getting dressed for the office on Monday was actually a welcome change! Most of my usual go-to work bottoms were in the wash, so I reached for my white maxi skirt. This time, I paired it with two of my new birthday pieces from Sézane — a navy cami top and the beautiful navy Betty cardigan (even prettier in real life!).
Footwear was a toss-up, but in the end, I went with my practical Adidas SL72s. If I’m being totally honest, I wasn’t in love with the final look. I’m not sure if it was the sneakers or the trench coat — the coat’s length didn’t quite vibe with the skirt — but I was short on time and went with it anyway.
Would I wear this outfit again? Probably not exactly as it was. Would I tweak it? Definitely. Next time I might try a shorter jacket and a lighter shoe to balance things out a bit more. What do you think — would you have styled it differently?
TUESDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = STRAIGHT LEG JEANS ➕LINEN CAMI ➕ BLAZER ➕ CONVERSE
Outfit Details… Tuesday meant another day in the office — and I was so excited to finally wear a recent opshop find I picked up a couple of weeks ago: this gorgeous ME+EM blazer. I’ve been dying to style it since I got it, and the office felt like the perfect occasion.
That said, much like Monday, I didn’t completely love the final outfit. The white linen cami ended up looking a bit too creased — which normally wouldn’t bother me, but it felt slightly off paired with the more elevated, structured vibe of the blazer. And looking back at the photos, I wasn’t overly keen on the jeans either. I hadn’t worn this straight-leg pair in a while, and I’ve clearly gotten used to a more relaxed, wide-leg silhouette (my usual faves were all in the wash!). These just didn’t feel quite right — and no, I’m definitely not about to start wearing skinnies again anytime soon.
Note to self: next time, this blazer is absolutely getting paired with my wide-leg jeans.
WEDNESDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = WIDE LEG JEANS STRIPED SWEATER➕ TRENCH ➕ CONVERSE
Outfit Details… Wednesday was a work-from-home day, and Melbourne delivered another stunning sunny autumn morning. Unlike the earlier outfits this week, I felt much more myself in this look.
I went with ecru wide-leg jeans, a classic striped sweater, and my go-to trench — such a timeless combo. I loved how effortlessly it all came together. The Converse added a relaxed touch, which was perfect for grabbing a coffee after the school drop-off. This Assembly Label trench has been on high rotation since I scored it on Depop a couple of weeks ago — definitely one of my favourite recent finds!
THURSDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = WIDE LEG JEANS➕ BLOUSE ➕ CREW NECK SWEATER ➕ WOOL COAT ➕ WOVEN FLATS
Outfit Details…I think this might have been my favourite outfit of the week — what do you think?
It was an exceptionally chilly start to the morning, and after months of uninterrupted sunshine, the change in weather was actually a welcome one. (Talk to me in a few weeks, though — I’ll probably be complaining about the cold by then!) For now, I’m loving the chance to start layering again.
This Everlane wool coat was a recent sale find — originally over $700, and I snapped it up for under $200. Such a bargain, and it absolutely didn’t disappoint when it arrived. The quality is gorgeous, and I love the oversized fit. Safe to say this one’s going to be on high rotation all winter long. But beyond the coat, my favourite part of the look was the subtle layering — a ruffled Sézane blouse peeking out from under a simple grey crew-neck knit. It instantly elevated the outfit. Paired with my St. Agni woven flats, it just felt so me.
FRIDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = JOGGERS ➕ TEE➕ GRAPHIC SWEATER ➕ QUILTED COAT ➕ SNEAKERS
Outfit Details…Friday was one of those days — a never-ending to-do list at both work and home — so comfort was the top priority (it was Friday, after all!). I started the morning with an early walk to grab a coffee, and since it was a bit chilly, I took the chance to wear one of my favourite Depop finds: this stunning Stella Nova quilted coat (💛). It instantly elevated what was otherwise a super simple outfit — black joggers and a graphic Anine Bing sweater. Later in the day, I quickly swapped the joggers for a pair of jeans to head to the school assembly, but the moment I got home, those joggers went straight back on!
SATURDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = BARREL JEANS ➕ STRIPED SWEATER ➕ WOOL COAT➕ CONVERSE
Outfit Details…aturday was a pretty exciting day — it was the first time my husband and I were able to vote in Australia! I’m originally from the UK and became an Aussie citizen last year, so this felt like a real milestone. After almost eight years of waiting, we finally got our democracy sausage — and I’ve got to say, it felt really good.
It was another chilly morning in Melbourne, so I reached for my trusty Everlane coat again, layered over a striped cotton sweater and Everlane barrel jeans. This look could have leaned quite dressy, but the Converse high-tops gave it a more relaxed, elevated-casual feel — totally up my street.
Later in the afternoon, we took the kids out for a cinema and dinner date (so lovely!), and aside from ditching the coat, I wore the exact same outfit. I love when a look can carry you through the entire day effortlessly.
SUNDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = WIDE LEG JEANS➕ LINEN SHIRT ➕ MULES
Outfit details…I started the day with an early morning reformer Pilates class — honestly, the best way to kick off the day. The rest of Sunday was beautifully low-key, and I wasn’t complaining one bit.
It was surprisingly warm (how is it May and we’re still getting these gorgeous days?), so my outfit leaned into that easy, undone vibe. I revisited a look I wore a couple of weeks ago — wide-leg jeans and a black linen shirt — but gave it a fresh twist with my new leopard print mules from Common Saint. I absolutely loved how it all came together!
