A Week of Denim, a New Bag Love Affair & One Solid Office-to-Dinner Outfit
Hello lovely Substack readers! Happy Monday!
This time of the week rolls around so fast! Melbourne suddenly flipped the cold switch last week, and of course, the germs followed—thanks, kids.
We’ve all been feeling a bit off, so I’ve been hopping into bed as soon as the little ones are down and bingeing allll the TV. I’ll get back to my book soon, but for now, the remote’s winning!
Have you seen Forever on Netflix? It was one of my favourite books as a teen, and I loved the modern-day update. Also mildly obsessed with Ransom Canyon—clearly I’m in my easy-watch era. We just started Your Friends & Neighbours with Jon Hamm and it’s so good! Got any other recommendations?
Last week was very denim-heavy—which has me thinking it might be time to mix things up a bit (easier said than done, I love my jeans!). Let’s see how I go next week…
A new work bag totally stole my heart, and I was pretty pleased with my office-to-dinner look on Thursday—what do you think Anyway! Here’s a full recap of everything I wore last week—let me know which outfits you’re loving!
MONDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = BARREL JEANS➕ CARDIGAN ➕ QUILTED COAT ➕ BOOTS
Outfit Details….finally felt 100% again after a rough week—and even though I was working from home, I felt the urge to get ready. I reached for the black washed barrel jeans and boots I rediscovered over the weekend—because honestly, I’m in love. This time I paired them with my Sezane Gaspard cardigan in the Carmel colour.
A little styling trick I love? Folding the neckline down to turn it into a V—such a simple way to keep it feeling fresh. I topped it off with my preloved quilted Stella Nova coat, which made the whole look feel polished enough to pop out for some lunchtime errands.
TUESDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = WHITE SHIRT ➕FLARED JEANS ➕ WOOL COAT ➕ WOVEN FLATS

Outfit Details…If you read last week’s edition, you’ll know I scored this white shirt at a preloved fashion market—and I couldn’t wait to wear it to the office! You really can’t go wrong with a white shirt and jeans combo. It’s simple, timeless, and when layered with a long wool coat, it becomes the perfect workwear formula—especially for these chilly Melbourne mornings.
I also have to mention my new work bag: the Emma from Republic of Florence. It’s honestly fabulous. Spacious enough to fit all my work things (laptop, notebook, pens, snacks…) and versatile enough to wear as a backpack or crossbody. This one was already on heavy rotation last week!
WEDNESDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = TRACK PANTS STRIPED TEE ➕SWEATER ➕ COAT ➕ SNEAKERS
outfit details, Foxwood Clothing Coat*
Outfit Details…Oh my, Wednesday was freezing! I had a bunch of work errands to run, and honestly, all I wanted was something comfy—especially nothing tight around the waist. This outfit isn’t groundbreaking, but a matching set (joggers + sweatshirt in the same colour) has a way of making even the most casual look feel a little more elevated. I threw on a long coat to add another layer of polish without sacrificing comfort. It ended up being the perfect choice for a crisp morning beach walk followed by a cozy day working from home.
THURSDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = WIDE LEG JEANS ➕ STRIPED SHIRT ➕ WOOL COAT ➕ FLAT MARY JANES
outfit details, Republic of Florence Emma satchel *
Outfit Details… Thursday was a day and a half! I knew the morning would be a rush, so I actually prepped my outfit the night before—and honestly, it saved me so much time getting ready. I was heading straight into the city after work for dinner with friends, so I needed something that could do double duty: day and night.
Jeans and a shirt might just be my new favourite cooler weather formula—easy, pulled together, and comfy. I wore my Ally Shoes mocha flats again (still totally in love!) and layered on my Everlane wool coat because it was freezing. Threw all my work stuff into the new bag (told you it got a workout last week!) and I was out the door.
FRIDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = FLARED JEANS ➕ SWEATER ➕ BOMBER JACKET ➕ SCARF ➕ CONVERSE
Outfit Details… I woke up on Friday full of a cold (thanks to my lovely children—and husband—for sharing their germs yet again 😅), so it was a low-key morning with my little one: a café stop, a quick browse at the toy shop.
It was cold and rainy, so I reached for my new Uniqlo flare jeans—I’m really loving how versatile this silhouette is. Great for the office, but just as easy to style for a relaxed day out. I paired them with a simple grey crew neck sweater and my grey bomber jacket. Layering a scarf over the lighter jacket added both warmth and a little pop of colour and texture to the look.
SATURDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = FLARED JEANS ➕ KNITTED TEE ➕ CARDIGAN ➕ BIRKENSTOCKS
Outfit Details…Saturday was a bit of a non-starter… before I knew it, it was lunchtime and I was still chasing house chores in my workout gear. I needed an excuse to get dressed properly, so I pulled on my current denim obsession—these wide-leg drapey jeans from Uniqlo. They’re so comfy and feel effortlessly put-together.
I paired them with a knitted tee and threw my Sezane cardigan over the top. We only popped out to the park in the afternoon for a bit of fresh air, so I went for my favourite “door shoe”—the Birkenstock Bostons. (A recent Style-ish podcast got me thinking about those go-to shoes you grab on the way out the door!)
I might tweak this look if I wore it again, but for a low-key Saturday, it did the trick.
SUNDAY
OUTFIT FORMULA = JOGGERS➕ TEE ➕ SWEATER ➕ SNEAKERS
outfit links, Foxwood Clothing sweater & joggers*
Outfit details…Comfort was definitely the priority on Sunday. We went for a walk along the beach to check out the rock pools, then headed to a café for a little sweet treat—so I kept things super simple and comfy.
If you’re in that “I really don’t feel like getting dressed” mood (we all have that time of the month, right?), a matching sweater set is an absolute lifesaver. I’m loving this one from Foxwood Clothing—the muted charcoal feels a bit elevated, and the zip detail on the sweater adds a cute, slightly polished touch.
If it’s chilly, just throw a long wool coat over the top and no one will ever know you’re basically in your PJs. Win-win!
