What I packed (& wore) for weekend away in Bright
A real-life weekend packing list – hits, misses, and comfy layers
We couldn’t wait to hit the road and head 4 hours north to visit our lovely friends in Bright — one of our absolute favourite spots in regional Victoria. Tucked away in the High Country, Bright has a bit of magic about it… the kind of place that makes you slow down and soak it all in. The views? Breathtaking. The town? So charming, with something for everyone. And autumn? Honestly one of the best times to be there — all those golden yellows, fiery oranges, and crunchy red leaves. Coming from the UK, we don’t get to see this kind of seasonal show as often anymore, so we soaked up every minute.
We were lucky with the weather all weekend — cold, crisp air and those dreamy sunny blue skies. Perfect autumn vibes! We made the most of it with plenty of time outdoors, including a “quick walk” that somehow turned into a full-on hike… complete with scrambling down between two massive rocks! Definitely not the Sunday stroll we had in mind, but so much fun. Safe to say we’d earned an afternoon rest — and happily parked ourselves in the beer garden at the always-lovely Bright Brewery to recover
If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know I never go away without a packing list — even for a quick weekend trip! With three kids to organise as well, it’s the only way I don’t forget something. Here’s everything I packed for our cosy winter getaway to Bright. Think comfy, casual layers perfect for crisp country air… and yes, it all fit into my overnight bag!

The Hits
Overall I was really happy with my packing list for this trip, here are a few key hits…
Two-coat strategy – my casual quilted Stella Nova was perfect for daytime exploring, and the dressier Everlane maxi coat smartened things up when needed. Loved having the option!
Cosy knits – warm, soft, and easy to layer. I lived in these.
Foxwood joggers + sweater set – the comfiest thing to change into after a long day. Ideal for wine, snacks, and crashing on the couch.
Footwear win – packed two pairs and both were comfy enough for walking and chasing the kids around.
The Misses
No major misses — just a few tweaks I’d consider for next time.
Only wore one pair of sunglasses – not a major deal since they don’t take up much space, but definitely didn’t need the extra pair.
Should’ve packed my walking boots – the two pairs I took were comfy enough, but after that unexpected hike, I was definitely wishing I’d thrown my proper boots in.
My “hiking outfit” – more of a styling misstep than a packing fail! A jumper and jeans weren’t the most practical choice… my Lululemon leggings and a sweater would’ve made a lot more sense. Lesson learned!
That’s a wrap on another packing list edition! I hope you enjoyed this one and found a few helpful ideas for your next getaway. As always, thanks so much for reading — and if you know someone who could use a little packing inspo for their next weekend away, feel free to pass it on!
Until next time,

What I packed (& wore) for a 4-day camping trip
This packing list is a little different from my usual ones, and truth be told, my outfits weren’t exactly setting the fashion world alight. But in the spirit of sharing real-life outfits, here’s a full rundown of what I wore for a very casual camping trip.
What I packed (& wore) for a week in Torquay
I absolutely love putting together a packing list for trips away, and last week the family and I headed down the coast to Torquay—about a two-hour drive from Melbourne—to dog-sit our lovely friends’ greyhound, Tom - so here is my full packing list and outfits I wore.
